George Kakoulides, MD

Dr. George Kakoulides is a board-certified neurosurgeon with advanced expertise in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, including procedures involving the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. A Long Island native, Dr. Kakoulides has built a reputation as a trusted leader in neurosurgery, providing compassionate, cutting-edge care to patients across the region. He is proud to serve as an affiliate of Long Island Brain & Spine, where he has successfully treated thousands of individuals at state-of-the-art facilities located in West Islip, Huntington, Smithtown, and beyond.

Dr. Kakoulides received his medical degree with honors from Tufts University School of Medicine, where he also completed a dual master’s degree in international relations at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He completed his neurosurgical residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, followed by specialized fellowship training in complex spine surgery.

Dedicated to the management of spinal and cranial disorders, Dr. Kakoulides remains committed to applying the most advanced surgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Courtney Pendleton, MD, FAANS

Dr. Courtney Pendleton is a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than ten years of experience focusing on peripheral nerve surgery and spinal conditions. She joins GKMD with a distinguished background in both academic and clinical settings.

Dr. Pendleton earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and went on to complete her neurosurgical residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Her post-residency training is extensive, including a Peripheral Nerve Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, the prestigious Sugita Fellowship at Nagoya University Hospital in Japan, and additional expertise in pediatric spinal deformities through training at Shriners Hospital for Children.

Before entering private practice, Dr. Pendleton served as Director of the Peripheral Nerve Surgery Center at Stony Brook University and was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery. She is among a small group of neurosurgeons in the Northeast with focused training in peripheral nerve disorders and remains dedicated to delivering advanced, patient-centered care in this specialized field.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Pendleton enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and reading mystery novels.
